Tuesday is for ironing. ✨

Confession time… I actually enjoy ironing. 😄 I know, I know… I may be in the minority, but I’ve even got three irons to prove my commitment!

There’s just something about the sound of the steam, watching all those wrinkles disappear, and that fresh, clean smell that comes after everything is pressed. It’s oddly relaxing. Plus, it gives me the perfect excuse to binge watch some of my favorite shows for a few hours.

It’s a good thing I enjoy it because after washing all the vintage aprons, tablecloths, linens, and textiles I brought home from Brimfield, I’ve had plenty to keep me busy today!

Now it’s back to my shows… and a little more ironing.

Some people collect things…
I collect stories stitched in thread.

A faded quilt.
A flour sack.
A hand-embroidered tablecloth.
A worn piece of fabric that someone once chose with care.

What others see as old,
I see as beautiful.
I wonder about the hands that stitched it,
the meals it witnessed,
the family it served,
and the memories woven into every thread.

Perhaps that’s why I love vintage textiles so much…

Because they remind me that the most beautiful things
aren’t always brand new—
sometimes they’re simply well loved.

Monday = Wash Day! 🫧🧺

One thing you don’t always see after a big picking trip is the mountain of laundry that comes home with me! 😂

I brought home so many vintage aprons, tablecloths, fun retro fabrics, and all kinds of linens from Brimfield last week. Before any of them can head to a market or become something new for Mela’s Cottage, they all get a good washing.

It’s not the most exciting part of the process, but I love seeing these old treasures cleaned up and ready for their next chapter. Some will stay just as they are, and others will eventually be turned into pillows, towels, and other handmade goodies.

So today has been filled with me doing load after load after load… and dreaming about all the fun things these vintage finds will become. 😊.

Happy National Ice Cream Day! 🍦

This little DrinkMaster is more than just an old milkshake mixer… it’s a whole lot of memories.

When I was little, my grandfather had one just like it, and during the summers when I’d stay with my grandparents, he’d make me a milkshake almost every night. Those simple evenings are some of my favorite childhood memories.

Then, somewhere around 40 years ago, my grandparents gave me this one. Since then, it’s made countless milkshakes—not just for me, but for my own kids as they were growing up.

I think today might be the perfect excuse to dust it off and make another milkshake. ❤️

My weekend at Vintage in the Hudson Valley has come to an end… and now it’s time for a little pickin’ adventure!

Today I’m in Connecticut—a new state to check off my list! (At least I think I’ve never been here before. 😂)

I’m spending today resting, doing a little shopping, enjoying some Cane’s, and mapping out my game plan for the next two days at the Brimfield Antique Market.

Agatha doesn’t have a whole lot of extra room, so I’ll have to choose my treasures wisely! I’ve got a wish list of things I’m hoping to find…

Day 1️⃣ at Vintage in the Hudson Valley is in the books! 🎉

Now I’m headed back to the hotel with the A/C on full blast, looking forward to some dinner, a hot shower, and a good night’s sleep. 😴

I was so busy getting set up this morning and visiting with customers all day that I didn’t even take pictures! Don’t worry… I’ll make up for that tomorrow. 📸

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by my booth and to all the wonderful vendors who made today so much fun. It was such a joy meeting so many new faces!

I’m looking forward to Day 2! If you’re in the area, come by and say hi! ☺️
