A name from the past that is worthy of remembering.
Hattie Carnegie was a huge figure in NY fashion. She launched a hat making business in 1909 which quickly expanded to women’s fashion and jewelry by 1918. Hattie had a great eye for spotting and nurturing talent. In 1928, she discovered Lucille Ball, who began as an in-house model. Many fashion designers also got their start with her, such as Norman Norell, Pauline Trigère, and James Galanos. She passed away in 1956 and the company closed in the 1970s. Her pieces are in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and if you shop this beauty on our website, can be in yours as well.
