Some people need the whole backstory.

The right friend just moves the tag out of the way.

Doesn’t ask you to explain why.
Doesn’t flinch when your kid needs to leave early.
Doesn’t make you spend the whole afternoon translating your family.

They just get it.

And honestly? That kind of friendship feels like exhaling.

Who’s that person in your life? Tag them or tell us about them below. 💛

The costume made it to school.

The gym was too much.

Five hundred kids.
Echoing walls.
A costume layered over clothes.
Every parent watching.

They held it together all day.
The parade was the last box to tick.

Then their nervous system ran out of room.

Not a behavior problem.
A nervous system that had no room left.

Sometimes the costume survives the walk to school, but not the gym.
Sometimes pickup comes early.

Did your kid make it through the parade, or did you get the call to come pick them up? Tell us in the comments.

The pumpkin patch was a trap.

Six minutes in:
hay scratching.
crowds pressing in.
a sweater under the flannel.
one leaf touching a hand.

Then we carried a screaming kid past a family in matching sets and headed home.

Not a failed outing.
An outing that was already a lot for a nervous system.

Sometimes leaving is the regulation. Sometimes six minutes is the whole adventure. And sometimes the win is noticing the limit before asking for more.

Save this for the next “but everyone else is having fun” moment. Share with the parent who has made the fast exit.

What's your pumpkin patch exit story?

U.S. Bank High Five Grant™ for Moms

I’m applying for the The Mama Ladder® High Five Grant because I built the company I desperately needed as a mom.

My daughter refused to wear socks for an entire year.

Not “she didn’t like them.” She couldn’t tolerate them.

She wore rain boots barefoot every single day because that was easier than the screaming, crying and meltdowns that came with trying to put socks on her feet.

I remember thinking, how can something this small be making my child this miserable?

So I made her a better sock.

Today, Parker & Talia has sold more than 50,000 pairs.

And now I get messages from parents who are crying because, after months or even years of watching their child struggle with something as basic as getting dressed, their child is finally comfortable.

“I cried watching her put them on. For the first time, my child wasn’t in pain.”

That’s why I’m still building. 💛

The long sleeve fight has begun.

The jeans that were fine in April? Suddenly sandpaper.

It’s not defiance. It’s a sensory change, and their wardrobe changed without their consent.

Sunday night scaries hit kids too.

The irritability.
The clinginess.
Crying because the cup is the wrong cup.

It can look like misbehavior, but sometimes the week is arriving early in a child’s body.

More transitions. More expectations. More to hold.

Not a bad attitude. Not a parenting failure. Just a nervous system saying, “This feels like a lot.”

What does Sunday night look like at your house?

A hard week can leave you worn down: even when you love your child deeply. Both things can be true.

The hardest moment is not the whole child. And compassion does not mean abandoning boundaries or your own needs.

I made a Hard Moment Tracker to notice what happened before, what helped, and something good about your child. Not a behavior spreadsheet. Just a small way to look for patterns and hold onto the whole picture.

Resilient doesn’t mean fine.

We can know every trigger, pack the sensory kit, plan for the hard moments, and still be completely exhausted.

Being resourceful doesn’t make the hard parts disappear. It means we’ve learned how to keep going through things most people never notice.

Both can be true.

What has your family adapted to that outsiders don’t see? Tell us below. 💛

20 minutes of homework. 90 minutes of emotional resets.

Maybe it’s not the worksheet. It’s the transition from school brain to home brain: holding it together all day, then being asked to perform again the second they walk in.

How many emotional resets does homework take in your house?
