Bringing this one back because everyone needs to know HOW TO CHOOSE A SUNSCREEN:
Mineral vs. Chemical?
We’re big fans of mineral formulas—they sit on top of the skin and reflect UV rays, rather than absorbing into the bloodstream. Look for zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. If there are additional active ingredients, it’s not a 100% mineral sunscreen.
Lotion vs. Spray?
Sprays can be convenient, but tiny particles can be inhaled. Lotions (or non-aerosol sprays) are a safer bet for little ones.
SPF Level?
SPF 30–50 is your sweet spot. The amount you apply matters just as much as the SPF—if you’re using less, you’re getting less protection. We typically err on the side of SPF 50 for that reason.
Broad Spectrum?
Always go for broad spectrum—it protects against both UVA (aging) and UVB (burning) rays.
The sunscreen research is ever evolving, so the EWG published a new report with a great list of safe sunscreens. Will link in our Stories!! Help other mamas out and drop your favorite safe sunscreens in the comments!
