Why are we doing this? I guess one of the biggest questions we have been asked is why are we doing this? “Aren’t there enough t-shirts out there?” I think the answer to that is yes and no. There are plenty of t-shirts out there, there are a lot of great designers, and there are a ton of really cool shirts. What I found though is I would be looking through the shirts at countless stores, but I woul
d end up just going to H&M to get plain shirts for 5 bucks. It wasn’t that I wasn’t willing to pay more for my shirts it was that I couldn’t find anything that really spoke to me. At the end of the day, what you wear is one of the biggest ways to express a lot of different things to your friends and strangers alike. It can represent your taste, your style, your personality, sense of humor and so much more. There are a lot of shirts out there with extravagant designs and plenty of shirts with generic images that appeal to everyone. But shirts can say something about the person that buys them, and that is our aim. When you walk down the street, there is no shortage of stories that could and should be told. Our goal is to try to bring those stories to the people they will appeal to. To take things that could be on the wall in a gallery, and put them on a shirt with a fun twist. Try to find the perfect mix of grit and wit. But the stories are so much more than an image on a shirt, which is why we are trying to create a multimedia experience with fashion, art, music, stories, and the occasional video. When you see someone else wearing a Pinc Guerilla shirt we want you to have more in common than just the website you both visited. This is our goal and we’re going to need your help. Wouldn’t that be a cool shirt? IMG_0736Before this was a company, before we even had a name, this started as a creative outlet for three guys who thought it would be fun to make cool shirts. That turned into a passion project that we would spend our free time on. Walking down the street getting inspiration, coming up with designs, thinking of captions. And as time went on it became clear that piece by piece, brick by brick, we weren’t just making designs for shirts, we were building an ethos for what was going to become pinc guerilla. Very early we realized that we weren’t interested in being a traditional apparel company. We were going to do things our way. To avoid sacrificing creative control, we decided we weren’t going to seek any financial backers. This was both liberating and constraining. Ultimately, what could have been a glaring weakness turned into one of our strengths. It forced us to work our asses off to build an immersive experience that was as much about cultivating a community as it was about selling T shirts, and at the end of the day it really calls to mind why we decided to do this in the first place. Now that this is bigger than the three of us, we want you to join us and become a part of the Pinc Guerilla way.
