The design begins with the fabric.
I don’t always know exactly what a garment will become when I first see a piece of fabric.
There is something about the way a fabric feels, falls and moves that begins to reveal its possibilities. Its weight, texture, grain, stretch, colour and pattern all play a part in shaping the design.
As I said in my conversation with Basic Magazine, “I’m guided into a design once I fall in love with a fabric.”
The Malinda Blazer is one expression of that process: A fabrication that sparked the silhouette, the tailoring and the details that followed.
For me, designing is an ongoing conversation with fabric.
The details matter ✨
