The Art of Costume team honors the life and legacy of acclaimed costume designer Albert Wolsky, who passed away on May 23, 2026.

Over the course of a career that spanned nearly 100 films, Wolsky shaped countless unforgettable stories through his costume design work. His credits included All That Jazz, Bugsy, Grease, Sophie’s Choice, and many others. Throughout his career, he earned seven Academy Award nominations and won two Oscars for All That Jazz and Bugsy.

Albert Wolsky leaves behind an extraordinary legacy through his artistry, creativity, and influence on generations of filmmakers and costume designers.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and all of those who were inspired by Wolsky’s illustrious career.

In this reel, Albert Wolsky accepts the Academy Award for his costume design work on Bugsy at the 64th Academy Awards.
In the coming weeks, the will present a 35mm screening of Bugsy on July 15. We hope you will join us in celebrating Albert’s remarkable legacy and honoring his memory.

Happy Alien Day to all who celebrate 💚
Every April 26 (LV-426), fans of the Alien universe come together to honor one of sci-fi’s most enduring franchises. It’s a day to revisit the world of Weyland-Yutani and the artists who helped bring it to life.

The costume design of Aliens (1986) was by Emma Porteous, whose grounded, utilitarian approach helped define the look and feel of this iconic chapter in the saga.
