Rooted in the philosophy of “Past soul, future craft,” these 3 hands-on workshops will teach you the art of preserving and restoring your favorite footwear:

✨ Lab 1: Protective Half-Soles (add years of life and grip to your soles!)

✨ Lab 2: Leather Rescue & Shoecare (recoloring, scratch hiding, & deep conditioning)

✨ Lab 3: Alterations & Repair (heel linings, machine stitching, & hardware)

In the third course in our “Repair Labs” series you will learn how to diagnose and repair structural damage on your most beloved pairs 🥾

Lab 3: Footwear Alterations & Structural Repair
Date: Saturday, November 7th from 4-7pm
Duration: 3 hours

Description:
A highly focused class covering structural shoe repairs and functional alterations. Learn how to intervene on the most common points of wear and tear, utilizing a cobbler sewing machine and restoration techniques to save the integrity of your shoes.

What you will learn:
* Heel Lining Restoration: Repairing and replacing worn-out counter linings (the inside heel area).
* Machine Stitching: Operating a cobbler sewing machine to execute precise repair stitches.
* Hardware & Elastics: Techniques for replacing functional elements like zippers or worn gussets.
* Diagnostic Skills: Learning how to assess the feasibility of a repair project.

Lab 2: Leather Rescue & Shoecare Lab
Dates:
- Sunday, October 25th from 4-7pm
- Wednesday, October 28th from 6-9pm
Duration: 2-3 hours

Description:
Go beyond basic shoe polishing. This class teaches you how to diagnose the condition of your leather, hide scratches, and meticulously recolor faded areas to bring a tired pair of shoes back to life.

What you will learn:
* Deep Cleaning: Stripping old polish and preparing the leather pores.
* Restoration: Color matching, recoloring techniques, and scratch masking.
* Nourishment: Intensive conditioning and polishing for maximum protection.
* Maintenance: Establishing a personalized care routine to make your shoes last.

Introducing the first course in our new “Repair Labs” series. Join guest teacher Emma-Léa Guignon to learn how to save your shoes! 👠

Lab 1: The Protective Half-Sole
Date: Saturday, October 24th from 4-7pm
Duration: 3 hours

Description:
Learn how to apply a protective rubber half-sole to your existing shoes. This workshop focuses on extending the life of both men’s and women’s footwear by adding a durable grip and protective layer to the front part of the sole.

Note: This class and the techniques taught are preferably designed for leather soles. Participants may choose to bring shoes with existing plastic or rubber soles, but please be aware that the adhesive bonding process is different for these materials, and the durability of the bond cannot be guaranteed.

What you will learn:
* Preparation: Sanding, preparing the original sole to ensure a strong bond.
* Shaping: Cutting and fitting the new rubber protective layer.
* Application: Professional cementing techniques and pressing.
* Finishing: Edge finishing using a shoemaking knife and abrasives for a seamless integration.

Join us for a series of hands-on evening labs focused on the craft of shoe preservation. Taught by a traditional cobbler-bootmaker trained in France, these workshops empower you to extend the lifespan of your favorite footwear through professional techniques and targeted repairs.
