🎃Spooky season is upon us🎃
If you are an avid brioche knitter and love to make yourself or your loved one's silly hats to wear, this pattern is for you. It's got so much costuming potential, but also can be styled in a way that's wearable for everyday outfits.
The wool for this hat is a rustic sport weight wool from purchased at in Salem, MA. The structure of this woolen spun yarn keeps the horns up without any stuffing. I recommend using a similar yarn with a springy, spongy texture that can hold its shape. If you choose a different yarn, you may need to stuff the horns with some sort of filling in order to keep them standing.

The Auxetic Scarf, engineered to hold a pleated shape using just knits and purls, is in the latest issue of Farm & Fiber Knits magazine.

In this scarf, the fabric shifts from a thick crinkled pleat to a flat textured fabric ❗TRIPLING in size❗You can wear this as a mini scarf, then open it for extra coverage when necessary.

Auxetic fabrics are interesting. While most knits narrow when stretched vertically, auxetic knits expand in all directions when stretched. The unique texture of these fabrics allows them to contour around curves by expanding and pleating.

I rarely say this about projects, but you should use the original yarn (Not just because Kate Larson and I love it)

The original swatch for this project used leftover Harrisville Designs flyWHEEL and the texture was pretty prominent, especially when a small needle is used. I tried a few other yarns and found that the spongy structure of the Harrisville wool was essential to the texture coming through. It does a great job at holding the pleats.

The color shown here is Bancroft.

I'm finally posting pictures of my second day in Copenhagen back in September.
On my second and last full day in Copenhagen, we went to the Designmuseum Danmark and walked through an old swedish fort on the way. If you look at a map of Copenhagen, there's a mysterious star-shaped land mass surrounded by water, that's where I spotted this very stylish lady with her crochet clutch.
The evening pictures are from the ballet and Tivoli. It's very nice lit up at night.

The design museum was fantastic with so many displays of new designs and modern classics. There are a few older examples of design, but the museum really focuses on the industrial era. I'll be sharing many more videos of this excellent museum so that you can see a peek at what they have. The video shows a display of the progression of different table settings through time. All of the displays were very thoughtful

At the museum, there was an unexpected opportunity to do some indigo dyeing, my results are in the last slide.

Verner Panton room is worth the trip to Denmark.

The giant chair.

This in the garden area of the museum, there was a dye studio setup with scraps of fabric and all sorts of strings and clamps for dyeing. This was not part of our plan for the day, but it turned out to be a highlight of the trip. It was the first time I've ever tried anything like this and a great opportunity to watch the magical oxidization process as indigo turns from a light yellow color to its signature deep blue when it hits the air.

In the indigo dye tent, I met Lone Sigbrand and got a tip on some evening activities. She told us that there would be a classic ballet performance at Tivoli garden later that night. Of course, that was added to a list of things to do since we hadn't ventured into the amusement park yet.

Here, the table settings show a shift through each era of design. I love how the museum set this up so that you can see the trends flowing into each other and decided not to put each era into a bucket of its own without showing the connection to the past and future.

There was a significant amount of older design at the

In this class we learn to cast on from a central point or line. The class features seven small patterns for swatches that can be used as dishcloths so that you can practice techniques in class. We will also focus on the math behind shaping for these flat pieces.

Well suited intermediate level Knitters and adventurous beginners who have some experience knitting in the round.

If you've ever wondered what each fiber type Taj or means for your project, this class is a primer in all the different types of textiles you might encounter. From viscose to alpaca to acrylic, this lecture will ensure that you understand not just the basic terms that are used to describe fiber, but you'll also learn a little bit about the sustainability, washability, and general strengths of each material.

In this 3-hour workshop, students will see a lecture covering the basics of color theory terms. Once they've learned these terms, we will starting to look at relationships between multiple colors and the more complex optical illusions that can present themselves in these scenarios where colors interact.

This class is made with Knitters and crocheters in mind, but may be beneficialto those who do other yarn crafts.

I will teach you how to fix the most common brioche mistakes.

In this class, we are going to use simple supplies to create repeating fabric patterns on paper. Using a few different methods, I'll show you a few foolproof techniques to create a repeating fabric print.

Students will have the opportunity to draw with crayons and glue sticks will be available if you want to bring your own collage supplies. Bring your own drying supplies, but watercolors are not advised

In this class, you'll learn i cord cast, ons, i-cord bind offs and everything in between. We are going to make this very

🍎🍯The holidays must be early this year.

I thought I had a few more weeks to write up this festive horn pattern from last year. If this post gets enough comments, I'll be more motivated to find and photograph the shofar ( I only have the giant cornucopia version on hand) for the free pattern.

I love how the bobbles add even more texture in the brioche stitch.

If you're interested in joining a class that takes your brioche knitting from beginner to advanced, learning increases and decreases while also getting help with any mistakes that arise, you may enjoy this course.
