A little over a year and life is starting to feel more predictable and balanced. This place is stunningly beautiful and with spring on the way, I get sunrises like this. Breathtakingly beautiful. Crisp, clean air, better quality food, all the handcrafts I could possibly want and a cottage in the woods…I am living a life that I’ve dreamed of since I was a boy. I’m so grateful.

I don’t know who Kate was or why everyone thought she was lazy, but in English, these spool stands for plying yarn are called ”Lazy Kate” here in Sweden it is simply called a spool stand.

This simple design does a magnificent job. If I need less resistance as I ply, I draw the yarn directly off the front. If I need more resistance, I draw the yarn off the back and over the top bar.

This particular Lazy Kate is probably around 150 years old.

My simple little workspace at our home in Sweden is in an old kitchen in an old house. The sun glances through the window, making every edge and dust mote feel like home. Dalarna folk fashion weekend is coming up and there is going to be a thing about denim work with folk dress garment shapes. I’m working on another fun project with those techniques. I’m having the best time doing it. It might be related to 17th century dress. Maybe it is 19th century…with folk dress, different periods might have been blended together into a single garment. Those of us who love to be creative take our favorite traditional pieces and play with them because that feels like home for us.

Im almost done making a little folk dress vest with fabric I dyed with Lupines - an invasive plant here in Sweden. The wool that I’m using is fabric that I wove myself and processed in a nearby 1860s fulling mill. Regarding the amazing color…The internet said it would come out green but with the tiniest pinch of baking soda, it became livid, acid green! It will probably fade with wear and sunlight, we will see. Either way, it felt so good to clear a huge patch of this beautiful but invasive flower and do something useful with them. I’m going to create a digital version of the vest pattern which will be made available on both my American and Swedish websites. Downloadable in both A4 and US Letter formats.

My new website will have the ability to host courses behind a paywall in a much simpler way from what I had before.

Everything I had behind a (very clumsy) paywall before is now out on YouTube for free.

If I'm going to have new paywalled classes and content...What should it be?
