Crochet Hats, Handmade by Lucy Coelho

Crochet Hats, Handmade by Lucy Coelho Love to share my Crochet Hats, they are colourful and fun and have helped me get through many difficult times. Well someday maybe I will find it again.

My name is Lucy, and this is my opportunity to share with you my journey of life and of creating beautiful, colourful crochet. This past year (2015) has been difficult having been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. The surgery, chemotherapy and radiation are now behind me and sometime toward the end of 2016 I will have reconstruction surgery. My doctors, nurses and technicians have been so supp

ortive, their advise and laughter and encouragement have helped me through this difficult time. This past year I started crocheting to keep myself busy and occupied while recovering. It had been thirty years or so since I had last done any crochet. As a child my maternal grandmother was an inspiration to me, as she loved to crochet, tat and embroidery. I am so grateful for all that she taught me and thankful that she gave me some of her projects which have a special place in my heart and in my home. I grew up in San Jose, California and lived on a farm with my parents and five siblings. Our very large vegetable garden, many fruit trees and chickens and rabbits and beef cattle were a very abundant and healthy way of life. We were fortunate to learn a very good work ethic, and I am grateful for that. I always enjoyed the results of our hard work and to this day enjoy gardening although my green thumb has seemed to have left me. I thank God every day for my family and amazing friends, this is truly a wonderful journey!

These hats and scarf’s were made by me this past year (2015-2016) while recovering and getting my health back. Didn't realize how much I would like to crochet, but now I can honestly say I love to crochet. Tackling new patterns is a real challenge and very entertaining. Has taught me patience and the joy of accomplishment. The photography done by larmila McKinley. Designs by Hopeful Honey and Red Heart Yarns.
