Took the grom out for a little paddle board fishing in Newport Harbor. All we needed was 2 of the 1/4oz HUB, one in red and one in chovy and we pulled up close to 20 spottiest in under 2 hours of fishing!!

Hopped on a 1.5 day aboard the Pegasus out of Fisherman’s Landing and did some paddy hopping. Two of us were able to pull out 4 yellowtail with 3 of them being about 15-30lb and one little 5lb guy we tossed back. Got two on the surface iron, 1 on the yoyo, and 1 with live bait.

Bait is an issue with only anchovies so we pulled out sabikis and loaded up with mackerel around the bait barge.

Overall it was slow fishing but we made the most of it and got plenty for ceviche and tacos!

Got to take out the little grom and a first time ocean fisher from Iowa for some fun bottom fishing on the 3/4 day out of Dana Point. Was hoping to get into some of the red hot b***r fishing but the storm changed the local conditions and the fished pushed further south. We’ll get em next time!
