What an incredible day of professional learning aboard the Western Flyer!
A huge thank you to K**a Almasi with HMSC, Rials Christensen, and the entire Western Flyer crew, for their collaborative outreach and partnership in providing this unique STEM and place-based learning experience for our amazing teacher team at Sam Case on Wednesday.
Beyond the powerful science learning, our staff also had the opportunity to experience the rich historical significance of the Western Flyer and its connection to storytelling, exploration, and human impact. From its legacy tied to John Steinbeck and Ed Ricketts’ historic voyage to the ways science and story help us better understand our relationship with the natural world, the experience was both inspiring and deeply meaningful.
Our teachers deepened their understanding of marine science, stewardship, and place-based learning experiences that will directly impact and inspire our students. We are incredibly grateful for this meaningful collaboration and the shared commitment to connecting learning, history, science, and community in authentic ways.
