My dog doesn't know what inflation is. She doesn't know rent went up, gas prices are brutal, or that the economy feels impossible right now.

All she knows is she's got a roof, a full bowl, and someone who comes home to her every day.
Turns out that's a pretty good way to look at your own life too.

Here's something wild: if you've got a roof over your head, a car in the driveway, and $200 in the bank, you're already wealthier than most of the humans alive on Earth right now. Most people have no idea how true that is.

Some numbers worth sitting with (UBS Global Wealth Report 2026 / World Inequality Report 2026):

🐾 The median adult on this planet has a net worth of about $9,000
🐾 41% of adults worldwide have less than $10,000 to their name, total
🐾 The bottom half of humanity — roughly 2.8 billion people — owns just 2% of all global wealth
🐾 The top 10% hold around 75% of it
🐾 Own a car with no debt on it? You're already ahead of most people alive today
🐾 Any positive net worth at all puts you above the bottom half of the planet

None of this means the pressure people feel right now isn't real. Housing is unaffordable. Inflation has hurt everyone. That's not up for debate.

But like my dog stretched out on the couch without a worry in the world, perspective changes how you carry what you've got. Running water. Electricity. Internet. A car. Food on the table. A bank account you can actually use. Billions of people will never have access to that in their lifetime.

Gratitude and ambition aren't opposites. You can appreciate the ground you're standing on and still sprint toward more.

The people who build real wealth aren't the ones who feel owed something. They're the ones who look at what they've already got — like a good dog looking at a full bowl — and make the most of it.

You have more than you think. Build on it.

As of 2026, there are only two active greyhound racing tracks left in the United States — and both are in West Virginia:

Wheeling Island Casino Hotel Racetrack (Wheeling, WV)
Mardi Gras Casino & Resort (Cross Lanes, WV)

Some context on why it's just these two:
As of 2026, only two tracks currently conduct actual live racing onsite, both in West Virginia (Wikipedia)

Commercial greyhound racing is illegal in 44 states, and in five more states (Alabama, Kansas, Iowa, Texas, and Wisconsin) all tracks have closed even though no formal ban has been enacted (GREY2K USA Worldwide)

Greyhound racing survives in West Virginia largely because of state subsidies totaling more than $19 million each year, and the tracks' owner, Delaware North, has said it wants out of racing but is legally required to keep subsidizing it to maintain its casino licenses (News and Sentinel)

There's also active federal movement to end it entirely: a provision in the 2026 Farm, Food and National Security Act that would criminalize greyhound racing nationwide passed the U.S.

House by a 224-200 vote in early May 2026, (News and Sentinel) though it would still need Senate approval to become law. So the WV tracks' future is genuinely uncertain right now.
