Candied Yams was born out of my passion for jewelry. The name, like the food, represents homemade natural goodness with a sweet style.

I've always been fascinated by all things small, odd and sweet. It wasn't long before I discovered my mother's box of trinkets and started wearing them for fun. Growing up in NYC, I found that people wore jewelry to accentuate their wardrobe and I personally used jewelry to express my moods, personality and style. I started creating my own "statement" pieces 15 years ago and haven't stopped since

then. When I am not designing jewelry, I am busy leading for equity and getting folx hyped about reimagining education as a school Principal.

When she is not busy being every educator’s hype-woman, she’s out there hustle and flowin, leading community circles, spearheading women-centered projects and simply giving back any which way she can. This Mother's Day, Candied Yams is proud to partner with Oak Park Makers to support New Moms, a nonprofit organization focused on laying the groundwork for building strong families and communities. This do good, right around the corner from me, mama-lovin, grassroots organization assists mothers with housing, work training, employment, health, nutrition and so much more. I couldn't think of a better way to give back on this special day!
You are invited to join us for a special Mother’s Day outdoor and socially distanced shopping event. All participating vendors will be making donations to . I also see this event as opportunity to support local artisans. We know that it has been a difficult year for all, especially small shops. Come show some love, grab something sweet for your mama and help us give back to organizations helping moms achieve their dreams. How often do you get a win-win-win y’all!?! ❤️
