I began Quilts by Kristy in 2010 with the ultimate goal of being a stay-at-home parent while still providing an income for our family. What started as a small endeavor has grown into a wonderfully busy business though a lot of hard work and the recommendations of my loyal clients. Each day I am able to work on beautiful quilts and return them to clients who are always so happy to see the finished

product; I couldn't ask for a better job! Quilts by Kristy provides longarm quilting services on two Gammill Statler Stitchers. This means that patterns are digital, and therefore the quality of my quilting is very consistent. As a science teacher by trade, I am very meticulous, and that is reflected in my work. Conversely, I rarely do freehand work because I dislike the unpredictability of the stitching. Both of my machines can fit quilts with a width of 120" or less (there is no limit to the length). At this point, I am no longer creating any T-shirt quilts or doing custom quilting; these types of services require too much time away from my family. Always feel free to email, call, or text with questions you have regarding a quilt; we can work together to pick out the perfect pattern and thread to finish your special project.

This client brought two very different quilts to life, each with its own special story.

The first quilt uses the free Moda pattern 3 At a Time and is full of rich batik color and movement. She shared that the jelly roll was a gift from a friend. Her friend bought one for herself too, so they’re each creating a completely different quilt from the same fabric collection. Such a fun quilting friendship idea! We quilted this one in Cold Fusion, which adds beautiful flowing texture across all those colorful pieced blocks.

The second quilt is a soft and elegant Double Irish Chain from Red Door Designs, made as a wedding gift for a friend. The subtle sage and cream fabrics give it such a timeless feel, and Acadia Feather was the perfect quilting choice to add graceful texture and movement throughout. The newspaper backing is such a unique finishing touch too. 🤍

Marilyn’s quilt is bursting with cheerful vintage florals and happy color! The stars really pop against the crisp white background, and that floral border ties everything together so beautifully.

She chose cozy white minky for the backing, and we quilted it in Whole Lotta Hearts for the perfect soft-and-sweet finish. The heart design adds so much texture and warmth, especially on that minky backing. 💕

Denise’s Barnstable Sampler quilt is such a fun mix of classic piecing and subtle fantasy flair! The cool aqua, teal, and lavender palette gives it a soft, icy feel, while the dragon fabrics tucked throughout the blocks add the perfect unexpected detail.

We quilted it in Loop the Loop in pale teal to bring gentle movement and texture across all of the intricate piecing without overpowering the design. This one feels both elegant and a little magical!

This cheerful pinwheel quilt by Pat is full of sweet vintage charm and happy color! The navy lattice gives each pinwheel room to shine, while the soft pastel fabrics keep the whole quilt feeling light and playful.

We quilted it in Windswept, which adds gentle movement across the quilt and makes the pinwheels feel like they’re spinning in a soft breeze. Such a lovely combination of classic piecing and graceful texture!

Andrea dropped off two beautiful Christmas quilts that are full of holiday charm!

Bringing Home the Christmas Tree features vintage cars loaded up with fresh-cut Christmas trees, surrounded by snowy evergreens and festive prints. We quilted it in Snowflake Fun to add playful winter texture across the entire quilt.

Her second quilt, Peppermint Frost, combines classic red and gray holiday fabrics with intricate piecing that looks like a cozy Christmas village tucked beneath sparkling snowflakes. Oodles of Doodles was the perfect quilting choice to add soft movement and texture without taking away from all of Andrea’s beautiful piecing.

These quilts feel like Christmas in quilt form!

Suzette created this striking western-themed quilt full of cowboy charm and beautiful scenic fabrics! She pieced it using the pattern Riders on the Range by Danhui Nai using Wilmington prints. From the detailed horse and rider centerpiece to the coordinating borders and playful backing fabric, every detail works together perfectly.

We quilted it in Hats and Boots, a design that was made for a quilt like this. The western motifs add movement and personality across the open spaces while complementing the rope, horse, and cowboy fabrics throughout the quilt. Such a fun project with a true western spirit!

Maryann brought in two beautiful seasonal quilts, each with its own unique personality!

The first quilt celebrates all things red, white, and blue with striking flag-inspired center blocks and layers of patriotic fabrics throughout. We quilted it in Simply Stars using a variegated red, white, and blue thread that adds even more movement and sparkle across the quilt. The star quilting was the perfect finishing touch for this Americana design!

Her second quilt is full of cozy Christmas charm, from the cheerful holiday prints to the elegant cardinal centerpiece. We finished it with Holly Berries quilting in gold thread, adding a soft festive shimmer that complements the rich reds, greens, and blacks beautifully. Such a warm and inviting quilt for the holiday season!

My summer newsletter should have arrived in inboxes today! ☀️🧵

If you use Gmail, there’s a good chance it may have landed in your spam/junk folder, so be sure to check there if you don’t see it. Or there’s also a possibility you didn’t receive it at all. The company I use to host my website and email merged with another organization a few months ago, and sending bulk emails has been a challenge.

In the meantime, the newsletter can always be accessed from the front page of my website.

This edition includes studio updates, queue information, future pricing updates, quilting tips, and a few snapshots from our spring and summer adventures. I hope you enjoy it!

Sabrina brought so much joy and color to these two projects!

Her Quilty Cabins quilt is packed with tiny piecing: each block contains around 75 little pieces! The bright colors and playful heart prints make this one impossible not to smile at. We quilted it in Heart Meander for the perfect finishing touch, and the cozy pink minky backing makes it extra snuggly.

Her second project, Petit Plaid, is destined to become a Christmas tree skirt and what a brilliant idea that is. The rich pinks and greens give it such a fun, modern holiday feel. We finished it with Midnight Sparkle in rose to add soft swirls and a subtle sparkle effect that will look beautiful around the tree.

Charlotte pieced this beautiful quilt for her son and daughter-in-law, and every detail feels thoughtful and personal. The soft blue sunburst blocks shine against the crisp background, creating such a calm and classic look.

We quilted it in Toss Up using a pale blue thread that adds gentle movement and texture across the quilt without taking away from the piecing. And the backing may be my favorite detail of all: gorgeous blue sunflowers chosen because her daughter-in-law loves seeing sunflower fields. Such a meaningful finishing touch for a quilt made with so much love.
