Wow! This piece is Beautiful!

The beauty I have for you tonight is such a unique piece and comes with a good story!!

Our friend’s brother passed away and he gave us his furniture set that had also belonged to their parents. He just asked that we sent him a picture of the finished piece ♥️.

A few weeks ago I pulled it out and cleaned it up with restore a finish. It had some scratches but they cleaned right up. I find that MCM pieces sell better as wood especially if they are in good condition.

I decided to list it on FB marketplace and was immediately messaged by 30+ people who were interested. A few people were MCM collectors and gave me a wealth of information on what I had and what it was worth.

Turns out this is a Broyhill Brasilia which is one of the most highly sought after dressers by MCM collectors!! I didn’t know this, and quite honestly it was a surprise to me. The man who purchased it rented Uhaul and drove a couple hours to pick it up. He was kind enough to share the history of it with me. Here is the short version from Google:

Broyhill Brasilia furniture debuted at the Seattle World's Fair in 1962. The signature lines and waves of Brasilia furniture were inspired by the distinct architecture of the city of Brasilia (capital of Brazil). Anyone who's a mid-century furniture fan has probably seen and drooled over the Brasilia line.

It was so fun to meet a collector! This picture actually photographed darker than it is in person. When he picked it up he said he was so happy it photographed darker because many buyers passed on it because it isn’t the “right” MCM shade (due to using restore a finish). He thought he was going to have to sand and refinish it which he was happy to do just to get ahold of this piece.

So here’s the coolest part and if you’re still with me you’ll love this. While cleaning this piece the only thing I found in it was a wedding program from the wedding 💒 of our friends that gave us the dresser set!! His brother had saved it all those years! How cool is that for a connection.

I learned so much about MCM furniture after listing this. I’ll definitely be looking for more when I’m sourcing furniture. I also still have the gentleman’s chest that goes with this piece in my shop. I’m using it as storage for my paint supplies and honestly just love having a collectors item in my workspace.

So if you have an MCM piece of furniture in your inventory google image search it because you never know what you may have! Although I’m really happy with how this played out for me because meeting and talking to MCM collectors was such a joy!! - ♥️ Leah, A furniture nerd 🤓

FLOORS FABULOUS FLOORS

Ok so I have had alot of people asking me about how I have done my floors, I sanded the floor boards then used diy cc white chalk paint 2 coats then decopaged with decorative napkins then sanded and distressed then 3 coats of water based clear sealer... was a big job but looks amazing and is holding up very well, im always shoving furniture around on it 😜 *any good wood glue i used boncrete for the decoupage, u can go on Google and watch utubes on how to decoupage with napkins
*and any clear water based varnish for sealing i used Bonnells monocel
*and u can google how to make your own chalk paint their are a few different methods i use the calcium carbonate method or u can just buy ready made chalk paint from your hardware store or any paint suplier
*and napkins can be bought at any cheapie stores like King sales.. silly sollies..or kmart.. spotlight.. gift shops etc
Hope this helps y'all oh and I am located in Bundaberg QLD Australia 😊
