🐚🧜♀️Story Time 🐚🧜♀️
Sally, AKA Pretzel, is the hero we all strive to be.
NO it’s not for sale because she is leaving it to me in her will 😬
She saw a Boca Beacon article asking, “Can you take the fountain?” and apparently her answer was yes.
One day it was someone else’s problem, the next day forklifts were dropping thousands of pounds of Boca Grande history on her side lot.
Created by Boca Grande artist Grace Alzamora, the fountain is one of those pieces that island residents instantly recognize. Grace and her sister, Mariana, were longtime island residents, and Grace became known for her whimsical shell-covered creations that reflected the beauty and character of Boca Grande. The fountain had already survived one major move years earlier and was facing an uncertain future once again. (Boca Beacon)
Within 24 hours of seeing the article, It arrived, and dropped on her lot. They moved it a second time, fixed the leaks, brought the water back to life, and gave this incredible piece a second chance.
“I always knew where it belonged.”
Today it sits at my bestie Pretzel’s house on Boca Grande, where it can continue being enjoyed instead of becoming a forgotten piece of island history.
Sometimes you don’t go looking for a project. The project finds you.
And this one was worth saving. 🐚💙🧜♀️
