I know I've been a little quiet lately. It's because I've been reconnecting with my first love: writing.

I don't normally share my work, but I'm particularly proud of this piece I wrote for Do South Magazine about the upcoming Birding Festival of the South. Someone finally let me write about BIRDS!

It was an honor to get to include thoughts by Alison Kondler of Birding By Ear and Bonner Black about these precious creatures I've fallen in love with over the past several years.

I hope you'll stop and think about the birds you hear and see today, and tell them thank you for all they do.

It’s twilight, and the fireflies are glowing and finally back in stock! I’ll have them with me at Argenta Art Walk tomorrow from 5-8 at our studio (check my last post for details), or you can get one in the Entomology Collection on my site. These flew out of here fast last time, and it took me months to make more, so don’t wait! 💛

Today's feature from our 2025 - 2027 Juried Artist Registry is jewelry artist Stacey Bowers. As a jewelry artist, Stacey works to fight the misconception that craft is beneath fine art. Through the design process, she works to "find the ways that [her] subject can communicate with the practical hardware as well as the wearer, giving each piece a dynamic feel and hiding little secrets in the details."

To quote the artist, "my subject matter is influenced by my reverence for the natural world and humankind's essential spiritual bond with it, which gives birth to mythology and storytelling."

I REALLY wanted to show you the metamorphosis of this black swallowtail caterpillar in my garden, but after eating literally all of my parsley it had the absolute audacity to run away and make its chrysalis somewhere else…

BUT I have another metamorphosis to show you! Yesterday I opened a new thing of organic spinach (yes, I live dangerously) and a butterfly crawled out of it at me! It was on its last legs, but when it felt the sunlight in my yard it perked up 🥹

Anyway, here’s my luna moth necklace from my Entomology Collection alongside a butterfly I found in the streets of Shreveport TWENTY (!!) years ago and kept in a jar (it was dead already). I love critters 💚
