✨ MEET THE MAKER: TREY BATES OF PATCHES ON CAPS ✨

Some people find a passion. Trey lives it.

For years, Trey has been designing, embroidering, and creating custom apparel and promotional products. While Patches on Caps may be a newer business, his talent and experience are anything but new.

When Trey joined Tripp’s Mercantile, we thought he might bring in a few hats and shirts. Instead, he brought an incredible collection of apparel, patches, and designs—all with a focus on quality products at affordable prices.

But what stands out most about Trey isn’t just what he makes—it’s who he is. His enthusiasm is contagious, his creativity is inspiring, and his determination shines both in business and as a competitor in the National Wheelchair Basketball Association.

Hey friends! We’d love to see you tomorrow at the Downtown Art Walk from 10–5 🎨

There are over 30 artists set up all throughout downtown North Wilkesboro, and it’s going to be such a fun day just walking around, meeting people, and taking in all the talent we’re lucky to have right here in Wilkes County.

We will have our very own Sheila Brock right outside the store.

Take your time, stop and chat with the artists, ask them about their work, and show them some love. And while you’re out, pop into the shops along the way too—it’s a great chance to support both our local creatives and small businesses.

Huge shoutout to the Downtown North Wilkesboro Partnership for putting this together, and especially to our friend and neighbor Lorelei Harris from The Whimsical Nook for all the time and heart she’s poured into making this happen.

Yep, that’s about right. Tammy and Jessica are an absolute hoot together.

When they first became part of Tripp’s Mercantile, we honestly didn’t know exactly what to expect. What we did know was that they would be an amazing part of our team. What we didn’t expect was just how much they would become part of our family.

And that’s exactly what happened.

They became part of our family.
They became part of our community.
They became part of what makes Tripp’s Mercantile what it is today.

If you’ve ever walked into Tripp’s Mercantile and felt the love and care, if you’ve felt seen and supported, if you’ve felt heard, or if they somehow just knew exactly how to hand you the perfect bag of popcorn at the perfect moment, would you mind saying it in the comments?

Tammy and Jessica are known for their intentional conversations. They’re known for their playful banter. This certification is part of a statewide movement connecting communities across North Carolina through the Main to Main Trail, an initiative designed to strengthen local economies, increase foot traffic, and celebrate the unique culture and character of our historic downtown.
