I know it’s been a minute since I offered anything here…I blame Covid. Is anyone interested in leotards?

Before you start the tutorial posting tomorrow, please get acquainted with your needle plate if you haven’t already! See those fancy grid lines? Depending on your seam allowance, you will line the edge of your fabric against one. Mine is nice and labeled. If yours is not, go ahead and measure each grid line from the point of your needle. We will be working with a 1/2” and a 1/4” seam allowance, so make sure you know where those are! “See” you tomorrow!

Happy Tuesday! Today I want you to get your materials ready for this super fun bag. You will need:

• 1/2 yard of fabric for main bag and straps (1 men’s shirt/pillowcase/etc will do)
• 1/2 yard (or just under) for lining
• safety pin for strap turning
• iron
• thread, scissors, stitch ripper, and sewing machine!

Please note I do not recommend knit fabrics...woven all the way! See last Thursday’s video for more on fabric.

Tutorial posted tomorrow!

Hello! I hope you enjoy this quick tutorial of getting to know your sewing machine. Make sure you have your manual, thread and bobbin, scissors, and the practice pages from Lily Shines Creates.

Just a quick note...I filmed this on a Monday and Mondays are hard. I call my foot pedal the presser foot at least twice. Presser foot is the little piece that holds your fabric down. Foot pedal is how you run your machine. Next time I’ll have more coffee! 🤦‍♀️

The best part of sewing is being able to get inspired and go! Think there will be a cool enough day to wear this? Certainly not this week!

Happy New Year! This was my last sew of the year, and it might be my favorite.
