There are only a few weeks each year when the gardens look like this.

This is the season we wait for all year long, the season of overflowing buckets, slow afternoons in the gardens, fresh-cut flowers on the kitchen table, and memories made outdoors.

If you’ve been meaning to visit, consider this your invitation. Summer is in bloom at Rose Farm, and we’d love to share it with you.

There is something magical about a beautiful coffee table book. It’s the kind of book you don’t tuck away on a shelf, but instead you leave it open, dog-ear your favorite pages, and revisit it whenever you need a little inspiration.

Inside The Shoppe, you’ll find a handpicked collection of stunning books celebrating flowers, gardens, entertaining, floral design, and the beauty of everyday living. They’re perfect for gifting, decorating, or simply slowing down with a cup of coffee on a quiet afternoon.

While you’re here, take time to wander through our thoughtfully curated collection of gifts, home accents, pantry favorites, candles, stationery, and garden treasures. Every shelf has been selected with beauty, hospitality, and simple joys in mind. Sometimes the best part of visiting Rose Farm isn’t checking something off your list, but it’s discovering something you didn’t know you were looking for. The Shoppe is open during open farm hours.

In June, Rose Farm had the distinct honor of hosting a private Farm-to-Table dinner for Ga***rd Hotels, JW Marriott Desert Ridge, and JW Marriott San Antonio, welcoming corporate and associate meeting planners from Iowa + Minneapolis for an unforgettable evening celebrating hospitality, exceptional cuisine, and the beauty of Iowa.

Event host Emily LaMantia first discovered Rose Farm while scrolling Instagram and was immediately captivated by the Garden Pavilion, beautiful flower gardens, and the elevated yet approachable experiences taking place on the farm.

Guests were welcomed with a refreshing strawberry-rhubarb cocktail garnished with basil before enjoying a grazing table filled with Iowa cheeses, charcuterie, seasonal fruit, local honey, and artisan accompaniments. Award-winning Chef Aaron Holt of Catering by Doolittle Farm then presented a menu celebrating the richness of Iowa’s summer harvest, beginning with local organic greens topped with pesto buttermilk dressing, marinated tomatoes, cucumbers, shaved radish, prosciutto crumble, pickled blackberries, and house-made croutons. The entrée featured tender sous vide Iowa Wagyu beef served with au poivre sauce, seasonal vegetables, confit potatoes, and crispy shallots. To conclude the evening, guests enjoyed a caramelized olive oil cake with mixed berry compote, fresh berries, Chantilly cream, oat granola, and edible flowers.

The Garden Pavilion was dressed for summer with arrangements overflowing with colorful blooms harvested from the gardens that morning. Floral-patterned napkins added a signature Rose Farm touch to each place setting, while petite table lamps cast a warm glow as the sun set over the gardens. Fresh apple sprigs from our apple trees held each guest’s place card. Local musician, Brian Dougherty, provided the prefect summer soundtrack with his voice + his guitar.

One of the most meaningful moments of the night came as guests learned that Ga***rd Opryland was the setting of Patrick + Karri’s wedding years ago. It felt like such a full-circle moment to welcome the Ga***rd family to Rose Farm and share the story of how this little dream in Iowa came to life.

On a beautiful June evening, Connor Guess asked Allie Steer to spend forever with him among the gardens at Rose Farm. After Allie said “yes,” the newly engaged couple was greeted with a celebratory champagne toast, where family and friends were waiting to share in the excitement of the moment. To make the day even sweeter, Connor surprised Allie with a hand-tied bouquet overflowing with colorful, farm-grown blooms, a keepsake she could take home as a beautiful reminder of the day they became engaged.

Congratulations, Connor and Allie! We wish you a lifetime of love, laughter, and beautiful adventures together!

If you’re dreaming of a proposal that’s thoughtful, romantic, and uniquely personal, we’d love to help you create an unforgettable experience. Whether you envision a quiet moment tucked among the gardens or a surprise celebration with family and friends waiting nearby, our team would be honored to help bring your vision to life.

No experience necessary. Just a pair of clippers, a bucket, and an hour that belongs entirely to you.

Today, we’re shining the spotlight on our incredible friends at the West Des Moines Public Library. Each Friday throughout June + July, the library’s beloved Bookmobile makes its way down our gravel lane, bringing books, stories, songs, and plenty of smiles to Farm School. Their wonderful Children’s Services team thoughtfully selects a story that complements each week’s theme, from alpacas and goats to worms and owls, helping curiosity bloom long before little hands head out into the gardens.

Their visits are so much more than story time. They inspire imagination, encourage a lifelong love of reading, and remind us that some of the greatest adventures begin with the turn of a page. Watching children gather together to listen, laugh, sing, and learn is one of the sweetest parts of every Friday at the farm.

We’re also thrilled to celebrate a well-deserved accomplishment. The West Des Moines Public Library has earned state accreditation from the State Library of Iowa, a recognition that reflects its outstanding commitment to excellence in library services, leadership, collections, programming, community engagement, and accessibility.

To the entire West Des Moines Public Library team, thank you for believing in the power of stories, nurturing young readers, and helping us create meaningful experiences for hundreds of families each summer. Your partnership is a treasured part of Farm School, and we’re so grateful you’re writing this chapter alongside us.

Sometimes the very best plans are the simplest ones.
Trade your to-do list for a bucket of blooms, breathe in the fresh summer air, and wander through rows of flowers that are putting on their very best show. It’s the perfect excuse to step away from the everyday, even if only for an hour.

Join us Wednesday through Saturday and enjoy our $40 Pick-Your-Own Bucket Special. Stop inside The Shoppe to pick up a bucket + clippers, then stroll the gardens and fill your bucket with whatever catches your eye.

Better yet, make it an outing. Bring a friend, sip on a glass of wine, bubbles, or another refreshing beverage from The Shoppe, settle into an Adirondack chair, and soak in the beauty of summer.

The emails can wait. The laundry can wait. These blooms won’t.
