What’s going on in the Hoop House? Oh nothin just a hostile takeover of the watermelon 😲🍉

We’re just letting nature do its thing I guess lol. Zuko and I started watermelon late in the season. It was contained in a kiddie pool at 1st. Then she went wild!

The Hoop House, even with shade cloth, got very hot so we didn’t grow much in there over the summer. But now’s her time to shine. We just need to w**d and organize for Fall. Hoping to extend our growing season with the Hoop House so we can get some picnic watermelon and other things too.

And lettuces. We need lettuces 🥗

We also learned that we DEFINITELY need to cover the floor of the Hoop House cuz them w**ds be w**ding!! They will find a way through your dumb little cardboard and carpet squares 🫣 We plan to use some Cedar Mulch next season for a wonderful smell. And by “we” I mean “me.” Zuko makes me do all the labor.

It’s raining but the Self-Serve Farm Stand is still open

107 Wawecus Hill Rd in Norwich, CT

Beautifully ripe, organic tomatoes & peppers -$1 containers, $3 and $4 containers

Delicious organic cucumbers and Summer Squash $1 each ~steady picking

Zuko and I made sausage and peppers the other day with our own sauce using our own tomatoes, our own garlic and our own peppers 🤌 It’s a great feeling and a blessing to be able to do that!

We also made a delicious sweet and spicy pineapple salsa to share with friends💃🏻

We want to try making Cowboy Candy with some of these jalapeños. We have so many peppers!! Holler if you would like more than what we have out. Zuko will make me pick fresh for you!!

Also, cucumbers cut up and marinated in Ponzu sauce (a citrus soy sauce) is so good. Don’t forget to put some hot garlic chili crisp oil in that! We make that too.

Or just cut up some summer squash and sauté with butter, salt & pepper.
