What if the one thing we chose to automate was our love for handmade?

At Variously , we are seeing something beautiful happen: a growing appreciation—and trust—for handcrafted textiles made through an artisan-rooted supply chain, using natural yarns and skills passed down through generations.

And perhaps automation isn’t always the enemy of craft.

Some moments make you pause.

Just this morning, I was sharing with my children that I probably get to spend only about 10% of my time actually designing. The rest goes into keeping a business running—logistics, operations, production, customers, finances, marketing, and all the countless things that happen behind the scenes.

Which is why moments like this feel especially meaningful.

After nearly a decade of working—often quietly and tirelessly—to build Variously around timeless design, quality, and the incredible skill of artisan makers, seeing our name mentioned alongside some of the industry’s icons on Editorialist feels incredibly special.

It’s a small reminder that all those years of choosing quality over shortcuts, staying consistent, and building intentionally do add up.

A little surreal. A lot of gratitude. And honestly, pretty ecstatic. 🤍

Kinda chic to actually do the work.

Sustainability, to us, isn’t a beautiful word to put on a label. It’s a practice built over years of learning, unlearning, refining, and showing up.

Years spent understanding materials.
Years spent learning the nuances of craft.
Years spent building relationships with artisans.
Years spent learning that good design takes patience—and that responsible making cannot be rushed.

Knowing who makes it.
Choosing materials carefully.
Making in small batches.
Wasting less.
Creating pieces meant to last.

None of this is learned overnight. And none of it is achieved overnight.

It’s a commitment to keep learning, keep questioning, and keep doing the work—one thread, one artisan relationship, one collection at a time.

Less greenwashing. More groundwork.
