350 miles driving to hunt elk. Not one to be seen. Listened to the sad tale of the . The boy and I talked about the deleterious effects of chaos and how a man must always hold the line, that a man without purpose when he hits 25 is hated and disparaged by the world, and that strength is the currency of reality.

The boy said he had an awesome time as I taught him silence while tracking, reading animal sign, and enduring hardship.

We've never had an established bedtime for our kids. They have always put themselves to sleep. The wise know that bedtime is a reward for a hard day's work. Establishing hard lines (unnaturally) creates a Hegelian dialectic you'll never stop fighting against.

Parent along a natural continuum because modernity won't be punished... it is the punishment.
