To most this may look like a lighthouse beach scene painted on canvas, but oh, it is much much more.
This past Friday, I stopped at a local estate sale and came across this hand painted picture of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, by a local woman in 1997, before it was moved to its current location in Buxton.
I love the colors and the details thoughtfully depicted in this piece and knew I wanted it for our camper, where we spend a lot of time in the Outer Banks.
Every good and perfect gift comes from the Lord and I experienced such a sweet moment of gratitude to Him for something that may seem silly, like a painting. He cares about the details of our lives and He is in them, no matter what. 🥹
When I got home, I did a search and found her obituary. I quickly found out that this woman was passionate about her faith, family, birds, and art. ❤️
This felt like more than just buying another decor piece. THIS is why I do what I do. Getting past treasures into the hands and homes where they belong the second time around.
This is my little part in “preserving the past”. Preserving her story. And even better, God knew way before she painted this in 1997, when I was 7 years old, that this would be a treasured gem to me at this moment in my life. He is so good.
