New art show "Couple & Pairs" by Karen Stanton in the shop! The art reception is this Thursday from 5pm - 8pm & the show will be up until July 12th.
Karen is an award-winning children’s book author/illustrator and teaching artist who has lived in the Bay Area since 1985. Formerly from Chicago, she received a master’s degree in architecture from UC Berkeley.
After practicing architecture for a second, she turned to children’s books, art making and teaching, serving as art specialist at Havens School for ten years before moving with her family to Valencia, Spain from 2013-15 where her paper collecting habit got a little out of control.
If you look closely in the background of her work, you can find pages from old Spanish journals, homework pages found in a storage unit, wallpaper pulled off the walls of a tear-down building, & pages from old textbooks from her travels all around the world.
