For this Southern California residence, the homeowners wanted to create a sense of separation at the entrance to their primary bedroom while keeping the space open, bright, and connected. Rather than building a solid wall, they chose a laser-cut Mizu panel to create privacy in a much more thoughtful way.

Mizu was an ideal pattern for this application because of its balanced relationship between positive and negative space. It offers just the right amount of screening while still allowing light to filter through, creating privacy without making the space feel enclosed.

Every detail of this panel was customized for their home, right down to where the pattern began. We specified that the cutouts start just 3/4" from the edge, creating a clean border around the perimeter. Their contractor built a simple wood frame, and we supplied the custom Mizu panel. The combination worked beautifully.

The homeowners were thrilled with the result and told me the screen has become a favorite feature of their home, earning compliments whenever they give tours.
