Attention Parents!
Our children are growing up in a time of advanced technology, and while most technology can help them learn and give them resources to accelerate their faith, some access to technology may cause them to fall into the traps of this world.
How can we as parents give them the best chance at thriving in their relationship with the Father and help them be prepared to say no to sin and yes to a life worthy of the call of the Lord?
Let's take a look at David and his son Solomon:
David, in 1 Chronicles 29, addresses an issue concerning his son. In verse 1, he describes how his son was chosen by God to build the temple. He understood, however, that because Solomon was young, the work would be too great.
Did David worry? No! He acted! Although David could not do the work for him, he knew he could help!
He prepared his own heart! (Verse 2)
David gave of all of his treasures, sparing nothing to make the house of the Lord beautiful with gold, silver, bronze, and precious stones. He also encouraged the people of Israel to do the same and to give of their treasure to aid Solomon in completing the work (Verses 6-8). In this way, Solomon would have all the materials needed to succeed.
What a team! They all gave something from their hearts! They did this as unto the Lord, and rejoiced together!
Solomon would eventually grow to build God's temple with the beautiful materials, and the Lord would be pleased.
Friends, you do not have to worry about your children! Just act and do so with the end result in mind!
Just as David did, prepare your heart to give the good things your child needs to build a beautiful life of devotion to God. Give them the knowledge of the living God, the worship of a daily life in His presence, and the treasures of His word stored in their hearts.
Be on guard against the world's agenda to influence them into sin. Give them the correct materials for their ears. Songs filled with faith, joy, and anointing. Books filled with the awe of God and truth. Friendships that honor Jesus. These will plant seeds of hope and grow into a fruitful tree that lives because of Christ.
God has a perfect plan with your child. They are to build their own life and bodies to be temples of the Holy Spirit, and we can give our children the resources they need to accomplish this.
2 Peter 3:17-18
Therefore, beloved, since you already know these things, be on your guard so that you will not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure standing. But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
Deuteronomy 4:9-10
Only be on your guard and diligently watch yourselves, so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen, and so that they do not slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and grandchildren. / The day you stood before the LORD your God at Horeb, the LORD said to me, “Gather the people before Me to hear My words, so that they may learn to fear Me all the days they live on the earth, and that they may teach them to their children.”
Isaiah 54:13
Then all your sons will be taught by the LORD, and great will be their prosperity.
