Part of the process of finding my 3 style words was going through my closet and taking out my Hows-pieces that I love but need to figure out how to style them so I will actually wear them. These wide leg denim jeans were just too much fabric so I cut them and then cuffed them up. With the sneakers, I realized I don’t like having to lace up my shoes, so I found a way to lace them that enables me to just slip them on and off without tying them. Sometimes all you need is a little tweak to your own pieces to come up with an outfit that feels right for you. Ever since realizing my 3 Words, I’m tweaking my regulars to fit my style so I feel the most comfortable in my outfits. This top hung in my closet waiting for a dressier occasion. I don’t know why, but I’m guessing it was the flounce, so I simply tucked it in and added a belt and now it fits the formula: Relaxed= the jean bermudas, Classic=the belt and slides, Unexpected= the tropical print top. I have read the book and done the work and finally (kind of) found my 3 Words (-ish) Drumroll please…Relaxed, Classic and Unexpected (-for now) It was HARD! I know it was 4 years ago, but I have revisited the 3 Word Method multiple times over the years, and given up. But this time I bought the book and put in the work and I think I’ve got it. The problem is, I kept leaning towards what I thought my words were instead of what they actually are, and the only way to find out is to do the closet edit and then try on your clothes using what you think your words might be. Then tweaking until it feels right. I cover the editing process on my new YouTube channel if you want to take a look. I am not broadcasting it because I am learning, and it’s pretty rough right now! Here is the basic foundation for my summer wardrobe. I like the casual sophisticated style of Majorca, the classic preppiness of Cape Cod and a few NY edge accessories thrown in. I am currently obsessed with jorts and couldn’t find a white pair so I went up 2 sizes to achieve the look. I am not normally a red person but I think injecting some red accessories really punctuate an outfit. I’m currently on the hunt for a chunky black sandal, a red Maryjane or slide sneaker and an oversized jean jacket that I think will modernize my looks. I have most of these pieces in my wardrobe, but have forgotten some, and tend to get stuck in a rut, especially with jewelry, handbags and footwear. Many of these items should also be easy to find in a thrift shop, but I’ve linked some options on my .ltk page

I just had to share the exuberant with you on this Monday morning. Viv is 81 years young and has discovered a formula that helps her dress to look fabulous every day, while staying true to her personality and flattering to her body type. Viv shares her secret to dressing youthful, and fun by incorporating colorful shoes, eyeglasses, scarves, jewelry and sometimes a sweater tossed over her shoulders. I think her style is particularly suited to seniors, and I for one can learn a lot from her youthful attitude.

Here is a naturally stylish account for you to follow I’m not sure where Mechtild is from but she is obviously European. I love her polished casual style and use of sensible shoes. Her outfits of the day are usually accompanied by inspirational photos, that are a great way to come up with your own color combinations. Look around today and see what inspires you!
