✨I'm so excited to share that my first grant proposal as an artist was accepted!✨

The grant is provided by First Nations Development Institute's Acorn Fund. With these funds, I'll be travelling to Ocmulgee Mounds National Park (Macon, GA) and Moundville Archaeological Park (Tuscaloosa, AL) to do archival research and harvest River Cane locally. I'll also be hosting a couple free workshops towards the end of my grant cycle. I'm so excited and so grateful for this opportunity to learn and grow as an artist.

They're a little over 10" long. Lol. I can't wait to wear them in Santa Fe next week.

The freehand burned design is a suuuper simple representation of a bandolier bag strap. I think they balanced out well with this simple bead pattern, too.

🧚🏽‍♀️ I harvest and process the River Cane before I free-hand burn designs into them. They're sealed with beeswax & cedar berries. Hooks are shaped by hand from sterling silver wire.🧚🏽‍♀️
