✨Meet Rose, our new seamstress at Sweet Francis Sewing Co!✨

We’ve been so thrilled to have Rose join us this wedding season with her savvy sewing skills!

You’ll often see her sewing in high heels and a cute vintage dress she whipped up over the weekend. 😏

Rose began sewing at a very young age, and she was making her own clothes by the time she was 12! 😳
That developed into a crazy talent for recreating historic gowns that have been featured by local historic guilds, and a passion for preserving vintage pieces.

We’re so happy to have her talents and her zest for life around the shop! 🌹💕

Can you still lose weight during your bridal alterations timeline? 👀
Short answer? YES! But keep reading ⬇️

Carrie had been on this amazing health journey for over a year, and we wanted to encourage her wins right up until the wedding day! Because when someone is celebrating a lifestyle change, the last thing we want to do is staunch that motivation just for a dress.

So we scheduled additional fittings in a shorter timeline, making sure to fit the gown to her exactly the way she wanted it to.
We ended up bringing the gown in more than FOUR dress sizes, and didn’t stop until Carrie felt 100% supported in the dress.
Alterations included: all the things because it was a complete reconstruction.

Here’s how YOU can plan if you’re on a health journey during your bridal alterations timeline:

-tell your seamstress your goals in advance to make sure they have the capacity to complete a project like this
-anticipate spending more on alterations
-plan for more fittings than the typical 2-3

1. YAY IT’S FINALLY HAPPENING! 🥳
Most of the time, we’ve been communicating with brides about 9 months before the wedding date, so when it’s finally time to meet and start the fittings, we are READY and SO excited to meet in real life and see the gown in person!👗

2. WE’RE GONNA TAKE IT ALL IN FROM THE TOP TO BOTTOM, OKAY? 💕
A great fitting dress starts with a beautifully tailored bodice! So that’s where we start pinning. From the straps to the bust to the hem and the bustle, we talk through each step of the way so you can point out what feels weird or itchy or…not quite supported. 🍒

3. SO WHAT’S YOUR CYCLE UP TO?? 👀
I meannnn, that may sound a little invasive for a first appointment, but your monthly cycles can significantly impact your fit. If this is the case for you, we’ll try to schedule future fittings around the time in your cycle you’ll be on your wedding day.

So far, this wedding season is shaping up to be the year of customizations, and we’re here for it!

Lexi’s gown came with sleeves, but they weren’t totally matching her vision. So we drafted our own custom sleeves to include everything on her wish list.

The result was this angelic design that brought her dress dreams to life! 💫

Also can I just say that these photos are proof that PNW weddings are as beautiful as it can get?!

Lexi’s fittings were so fun, especially since we had music in common! Here’s what she had to say about her experience as a Sweet Francis Bride:

✨Nadine was absolutely amazing to work with!
We bonded over our backgrounds as music teachers, and she made me feel so comfortable during my fittings. She is magical. She works so fast and made my dress perfect. She had to completely reconstruct my sleeves, and you would never be able to tell they didn’t come that way originally!
My dress fit like a dream, and I felt so comfortable all day long!✨

A little ✨Friday Introduction✨ post!

Are these still a thing?!
I hope so! Because I’m so excited to introduce you to Sweet Francis Sewing Co’s new seamstress extraordinaire, Catherine. 🩷👏🏽

The past 6 months Catherine has been learning the ropes around here, and we’ve really had so much fun finding our groove together!

In addition to being an exceptional sewist, she has mad skills in probably every creative art you can imagine: embroidery, costume design, cake decorating, floral design (helloooo you know I didn’t make that floral arch myself 🤣) and custom clothing are just a few of her many talents.

Looking forward to a wonderful full wedding season together! Hopefully you’ll get a chance to meet her at your next fitting. 🥰🪡
