Haiti was once densely forested, but extreme deforestation has left less than 1% of its original primary forests intact. This severe loss of tree cover has led to catastrophic soil erosion, devastating landslides, reduced agricultural yields, and increased vulnerability to natural disasters for local communities.

That’s why tentree is supporting long-term agroforestry and reforestation efforts across the country. By partnering with local farmers to manage nurseries, generate reliable income, and plant a mix of fruit and native trees, these initiatives are rebuilding degraded soil, restoring watershed stability, and creating sustainable food systems for coastal and mountain communities.

📍Location: Mountainous regions, degraded watersheds, and coastal communities across Haiti

🌱Species ecosystems: Fruit and agroforestry trees, fast-growing native timber species, and coastal mangroves
