Today is the Sag Harbor Cinema benefit! Story time … two years ago we made 250 bags for this. We had never taken an order over 25. I was so nervous. It meant so much to me because I love the cinema and have spent countless nights there. It was a rush order and the bags arrived from our factory two days before the benefit. Every time my factory called that summer I had no cell service because it was July in the Hamptons. When the bags arrived, we weren’t happy with the size of the pockets on half of them. We unseamed them, cut them down and sewed them back on. I stayed up most of the night that night listening to podcasts and seam ripping. It was sort of crazy. I can’t believe my mom just sat down and helped with no hesitation. She still has the little notecard we used to start counting them once we were finished on her mantle. We did it all in her living room. It still feels like a crazy fever dream! It may not be the right way to scale a business but it’s how it worked out! You can still find some Orient Linen Co. totes in the cinem cafe 🥴😵‍💫
