Can’t believe the day is here! It was a year ago that a Facebook post lead to our greatest adventure yet! Katie saw that was conducting a search for new brands called The Big Find and tagged Jeanette in the post. Despite being only 3 months into our first collection, Jeanette thought, “why not?!” and put together an audition video and sent it in. We were over the moon when EDEN & IVY made it through the first round. Jeanette then traveled to St. Pete, FL (pictured here) for an in-person pitch in front of a panel of judges. (Think Shark Tank!) We were so excited when we again made it to the next round. In September, Katie flew to Florida where we both attended a meeting with the buyers who would make the final decision. We were so nervous! Was this really happening?!

MAY 2019 - OUR FIRST COLLECTION BLOOMS 🌻
We were so excited to launch our first-ever collection of EDEN & IVY on our websites last spring! Our debut collection featured 10 different pieces in lots of fun colors (about 30 designs total) all made with organic cotton and deadstock materials by survivors of trafficking in Nepal. This was a turning point as Jeanette was blown away(!!) at how great the final pieces turned out, and Katie was thrilled with how well EDEN & IVY was selling. We knew we were onto something, and both of us felt stirred to support survivors in Nepal even further, but couldn’t begin to imagine what exciting things would happen next… @ Orlando, Florida

NOVEMBER 2019 - WE MAKE IT OFFICIAL!

We received our first purchase order from in November! It had been such an exciting journey and yet the real work was just beginning. (Pictured here: months later, boxes of finished clothes as they depart Nepal!) This is also the month we officially founded our company together. Our faith and awe continued to grow as Katie was already able to add several more jobs to the factory in Nepal. There are over 20 women (and growing!) employed at the factory – but a waiting list of 300-500 survivors who need jobs. We are so excited to see that as we grow, it makes it possible to expand the number of jobs at the factory!

AUGUST 2018 – A NEW IDEA SPROUTS

We had our first conversation about what would eventually become EDEN & IVY in August 2018. Katie reached out to Jeanette about potentially partnering on a new collection and Jeanette said “yes”! Over the next 10 months we would work on sketches, color swatches, and several rounds of fittings together. The name EDEN &IVY came to Jeanette during a yoga class in February 2019. To her surprise, Eden was a name Katie already had an affinity for. It’s Katie’s daughter’s middle name, and also a name she once used for a children’s clothing line (Eden by ). We thought, “What are the odds? This must be it!” Our floral design came next, by watercolor artist , a longtime friend of Jeanette’s. The anticipation was building as we prepared to launch our first seedlings together!

AUGUST 2016 – JEANETTE GETS SOCIALLY CONSCIOUS

Jeanette traveled to Haiti in 2015 and India in 2016 to learn about fair trade fashion. Witnessing the way that our clothing purchases can have a positive impact on the people who make them stirred something deep within her that is still her guiding light today! She announced on her blog () that she was taking “a new direction" - incorporating more ethical fashion and signing a book deal where she would be sharing in-depth.

Over the next few years, she would often voice her frustration about not having enough ethical clothing choices – things that were budget-friendly, colorful and fun, that did not require a style sacrifice. Little did she know, she would get her chance to create exactly that, when Katie reached out asking if she wanted to partner on a new clothing line!

APRIL 2011 – KATIE PLANTS SEEDS IN NEPAL

While getting her brand off the ground, Katie met the founder of , Ramesh Sapkota. His longing was job placement for the thousands of human trafficking survivors and at-risk women in which his organization rescues and supports. Katie’s heart couldn’t stop beating when she realized partnering could not only sustain survivors, but allow them to thrive. Using her NY Garment Industry experience, she proposed sewing jobs in Nepal. Ramesh had the same dream and was already training women on a foot petal machine. Almost a decade later, EDEN & IVY joins as the second brand at the factory - with the goal of creating and sustaining even more jobs for survivors!
