In the Polish city of Wrocław, one ordinary street lamp has been almost entirely consumed by climbing vines, leaving the pole hidden beneath a thick curtain of tangled growth that stretches from the light down to the pavement.

By day it looks like a strange botanical sculpture. At night, when the bulb flickers on at the top, the glow peeks through the leaves and the whole thing takes on the shape of a towering hooded figure, which is why people online have compared it to everything from a dementor to the folklore witch Baba Yaga.

The lamp has become a small local landmark, with passersby stopping to photograph it as the vines keep creeping higher year after year.
