Not every run will be sunshine and rainbows… But you still endure.

Every day will throw new challenges your way… But you still endure.

Life is easy for no one, no matter their status in the world…But you still endure.

We all run for different reasons but we all share one thing in common. As distance runners, we have learned to harden our minds and bodies to endure whatever life throws at us. So just remember, that when ever a single run or a race doesn’t go as expected, there is still plenty of benefit to be captured from that moment in time.

These posts get harder each time… But the results from this weekend’s race were far from great. But to be honest, I should not be surprised. I have no valid excuses for yet another DNF. Only one valid reason… I failed to train and prepare adequately. Life gets in the way. We all have our own obstacles to overcome and it’s up to each one of us to face them. I did not face my obstacles and chose to manage my time poorly, not allowing for proper training. I know some will say making it 66 miles is still an achievement (and I know it is) but that’s not what I set out to do. I set out to run 100 miles and I didn’t. Some might judge me for wanting to try again at some point and others will find it admirable to keep trying. At the end of the day I have learned that comparing myself to other runners is far from fruitful. My time will come, but only when I have earned it. Until then I’ll keep working to run my race.
