In 2009, while approximately six months pregnant with my fourth child, I served as a coordinator and designer for the Ventura College Fashion Show. These were the first two original designs I ever presented on a runway.
At the time, I could sew from commercial patterns but had not yet learned to create patterns from my own designs. Elena Garcia Brizuela helped bring my vision to life—and later taught me patternmaking and draping.
This moment marked the beginning of a new chapter: watching something that once existed only in my imagination come alive on the runway. 💜
