Shearing day doesn’t always check the weather forecast. 🌧️ It was a rainy few days leading up to the big day, so we’re currently in “airing out” mode. While these fleeces wait for their official micron counts, they’re spending some quality time drying out. We love seeing that crimp!

The absolute highlight of our first weekend at ? Hearing so many of you say that our Smokey yarn feels just like cashmere. There is nothing we love more than seeing that “squish test” surprise in person!
If you missed the kickoff, don’t worry—the trunk show is staying put at Fengari through this Wednesday. After that, our yarns will remain at the shop for the entire Bay Area Yarn Crawl and beyond!

Organizing our samples to be shipped off for micron count measurement! 🔬 For every sheep shorn, we take a small sample to measure the width of a single fiber strand.

The rule of thumb: smaller widths = finer and softer wool.

But look at that gradient! 🐑✨ One of the best parts of our flock is the incredible variety of natural colors. From creamy ivories to deep charcoals and warm mochas, this diversity allows us to offer a stunning range of naturally colored yarns without any synthetic dyes. Each sample represents a year of growth and a unique personality from the field.

While we had the sheep in for pregnancy testing, we took a moment to peek at their wool.

The outer layer of a fleece acts as a weather-beaten coat, protecting the soft, clean fiber tucked away inside. You can really see the difference between the two breeds here—the tight, signature crimp of the Merino versus the bouncy, loftier lock of the Cormo.

It’s always a good sign to see that bright, healthy wool waiting underneath the dust.
