Can we just have an appreciation post here? I adore this planter that I took from my father’s house after the Estate Sale we had 3 years ago. One of the things that he did to balance out his business, when he wasn’t guiding and outfitting in the backcountry, he had a garden shop where he sold plants, mulch, fertilizer, planters, and tools. Boy do I come by all this stuff honest!😂

I got an incredibly special treat in the mail today! Books from Andrea sorrythankyou79 Vintage Books and Andrea Tarwater I have wanted a hard back copy of A Tree Grows in Brooklyn for some time. So happy to have found one during one of her sales. However, even better… A paperback copy and a hard back of Andrea’s first book “Beaumont Cottage’. I was one of the lucky ones who got to read the book before it was actually in print. And now I can’t wait to read it again!

What goes better with a baseball game than hot dogs?? Bob and I spent a great afternoon watching the Baltimore Orioles sweep the Kansas City Royals. I get this ‘thrill’ every time when I walk through the hall and it opens up onto the stadium. It was hot, but luckily we had a breeze now and then, and a couple of lemonades helped cool us down. Of course you know it makes it even more fun when your team wins! I may have said this before - but the O’s have been my team since I was a little girl. I used to love hanging out on the back porch at my grandparents house, sitting on the glider with my grandfather, listening to the O’s games on the radio. From that time on, they became my team!

I love the quote “Life is an adventure, hang on for the ride”! 7 years ago I got an email that I was hoping for, but wasn’t sure would ever come. My birth father’s side of my family found me!! I was hoping for this since 2015, the year I found my birth mother’s side of my family. This photo was taken in September of 2019 - when I finally met Michele - my older sister by three months, AND when we met our much younger sister - Jennifer. I was just chatting with Michele last night when I realized - it was around this date that I had gotten her email. I feel so incredibly blessed that I have had the good fortune to meet both sides of my birth family. And even better - that they wanted to meet me too!

I don’t pick up much these days, because I have enough to sell. But I do pick up items that I’ve either sold before and know there is still an audience for and also items that I haven’t seen in the past. The barware definitely fits into this latter category. The tablecloth has a hole that needs to be mended, but I could not pass it up. It’s fabulous! Also the high balls and shot glasses are fantastic! Mushrooms, owls, crewels, Peterson and Golden Guides - could never pass these up. Homer Laughlin, Early American Homes - each piece features an American landmark. Independence Hall, Mt. Vernon, Lincoln’s Log Cabin, Monticello, Arlington. A purchase only fitting for the Fourth of July weekend, and our nation’s semiquincentennial!

I’m sure we’re all asking ourselves. How did it get to be July already?… that’s OK, I don’t know either. All of this fabulous Meakin dinnerware for the 1976 Centennial is now sold. I know that England did and does loads of export china, but it kind of makes me chuckle that they did export china for the bicentennial. Maybe that means they forgave us for the revolution, now 250 years ago?!
