Cooking with Every Bag of Thanks (EBT). Here in Hawaii, it’s called KOKUA which means help which I found at from its founder .koob. Landing in Hawaii without a home or money, he showed generosity and compassion towards my homelessness in the midst of a battle against those who did not pay mortgage but feel entitled to stay. For those who use homelessness when they’ve never been or are not homeless, please do not use our situation as a reason to further your self-righteousness. Homelessness is real and scary requiring empathy, not sympathy. Be thankful to have had a beautiful place like Kalani to offer you a home. I am. Very thankful. Mahalo nui loa. If you use this phrase, mean it.
