Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of a battle that Mexico won over French colonizers - the Battle of Puebla. ⛰⠀

Personally, we are happy we are eating tortillas instead of crepes. 🌮⠀
⠀
Mexico has gone through several cultural transitions and colonalization periods, but we’ve always managed to hold on to our indigenous traditions. 👩🏽‍🦱 ⠀
One of those traditions is huarache making and textile weaving - done by hand, slowly, meticulously, with pride and heart. 👐🏽⠀
