Lesson learned. When your kid wants to snuggle, don’t give conditions or you may end up with a massive headache. Then again…. The memory might be worth it!

So many places in Alaska feel like some other world. When traveling home from the Kenai Peninsula we side quested when there was a big wreck on the only highway home, which caused a 3.5 hour delay. Rather than be frustrated we decided to explore and take advantage the extra time in the road! We weren’t too far from the Ingram Creek pullout so we drove back and had some fun!

Alaska Side Quest Tips:
1: We always keep good gear in our car! (Muckboots, coats, water, trash bags for treasures. lol)
2: Stay aware of your surroundings! Watch for wildlife and bring protection. Be aware of the landscape and stay in a group!
3: The mudflats are NO JOKE! We made sure the tides were headed out. We didn’t wander too far out. We didn’t stay in me one place for too long so the silt doesn’t that’s a chance to slide away.

The 5th of May has been a historically unlucky day for me. So far it’s been great this year! Hopefully I didn’t just jinx it. 😂🫠

May the 4th be with you friends!

Repost from last year when it fell on a Sunday and we “dressed up” for church! Should have done it again this year! It was way too fun. 🤩

There we are then weather. There we are then. 🙄 We have GOT to get this ground thawed! My backyard is a mud lake.

Blessings…. Curses… same thing. Just knock it off whoever you are! We had some good sunny days! I need the ground to thaw so the lake in my backyard will disappear!

Resurrection Pass Trail was an absolute treat last year. And NOT just because I had spent the last month bottle feeding a premie goat whose mom decided to be crappy and then not sleeping to ensure everyone else’s kidding turned out ok! (Yes…. Hiking 40 miles was relaxing after last year’s kidding season.)

I was amazing to see what my body could do, it was relaxing to have silly girl time on the trail, and it was spectacular to see this amazing place in which we live. Alaska may be annoying sometimes. (Snowed slush again today.) But it does make up for it eventually.

I like long walks. AWAY from my responsibilities! 🤣😜. I feel like I am constantly in go mode. Hiking and vacation and girls trips…. They are my brain break! So grateful for those friends who force me out of my comfort zone again and again to experience new amazing things.
