BLAST from the PAST!!

I decided to photograph my daughter’s first solo encore bear from my early days when I was just starting out…. And WOW! My bears have come a lonnnggggg way! I considered, briefly, taking this bear apart and bringing her up to current standards, but that would be doing her dirty!
This bear is a dot of evidence on the timeline of my journey, and one that I’m so so proud of! She is proof that you don’t have to be a master at your craft to begin, there’s always a starting point, and from there, your growth is measured.
And boy, am I glad that that my skills have grown over the past few years since this bear!

It’s time that I share her with you! 💚🩷

This beautiful bear began as a tribute performance to honor a missed grandfather….

The costume was gorgeous, the bear is stunning, but the routine was incredible.

Dancer, may you remember your grandfather and the memories you have of him whenever you see your bear, and may it remind you of his love for you, and your courage to dance for him…

What you can see - three sewn in layers of fringe.
What you can’t see - every inch of black on this bear is covered in the most subtly sparkly black mesh fabric, that dazzles in the light!

I was recently given the opportunity to create a first & last of sorts for a graduating senior.
This is a recital gift, so if you know this dancer, don’t spoil the surprise!

I immediately fell in love with the pizzazz of this ‘early years’ costume! I just couldn’t stop myself from adding one more detail, and just another detail, then one more detail! I think she turned out perfect! 💜
