When war broke out in her home city of Sarajevo, Selma was 16. She stopped school (school for applied arts), left her family and supported herself by working as a stylist and model. Eventually she enrolled in the Esmod fashion academy in Berlin and upon graduation, fulfilled her childhood dream. That same year of her graduation, her design was picked by Mercedes-Benz to be featured in their comme

rcial, won the Hempel Award at China Fashion Week and was one of the finalists for the Fashion Academy Award in Berlin. Her work has been featured in publications and exhibitions around the world. Selma Starfinger design has been photographed from great photographers as Sinisha Nisevic and Joseph Cultice. Celebrities like Rihanna, Omahyra Mota, Coco Rocha were using Selma Starfinger clothes. For Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, Selma designed remarkable dress for singer Maya Sar. Selma is currently based in New York.
