A little ode to Laurel...our family transplanted to the wilds of Templeton in the late 1970's. My parents were artists that wanted to live a creative life in nature. So they bought a big piece of untamed land out on 46 West with some artist friends. We moved out there in our red Volkswagen bus and they set out building a house, with the occasional help of their parents. It took a while (of course!) and life was an adventure. We bathed in the creek and ran wild in the hills. Every tree was climbed and every hill explored. Nature was our friend.
All of this to say: I am an artist, raised by artists. And Laurel is the original creative influence in my life. She made everything herself and it was inspiring to see. When I was a child, she made pottery, clothing, painted, did woodworking, stained glass, jewelry, built several houses, created beautiful gardens and made her own bread. She was always doing something and everything she made was beautiful.
Thank you, Mom, for going on the adventure of Firefly with me. I have learned so much and I'm so glad we got this time together. May all of your dreams continue to come true! ✨ We're all curious to see what you do next. :) Love you so much! ♥️♥️♥️
