Punks For Pets

Directions

Punks For Pets Every September we have a big show to collect supplies for shelters. Doing what we can to help 24/375

In 2007 , Jenn Lombari held the first Punks For Pets event at The Livingroom in Providence, RI. Donations of pet food and supplies were given to Providence Animal Rescue League. Over the last few years, other events were held and recieved donations to help RI flood victims in 2010 as well as PALS Humane Society Gift and Thrift Shop. As Punks For Pets gains popularity every year, the bands have become a MIX of punk and other genres but that's okay with us! We are hoping to
make this year bigger and better and help the lives of as many animals as possible.

🐱🚨 CAT CHOKING EMERGENCY: Do You Know What to Do?

Choking in cats can become life-threatening within minutes. Knowing the warning signs and understanding basic first aid can make a critical difference when every second counts. 🩺🐾

⚠️ Important First Aid Tips:
🐾 Check whether your cat can breathe or cough.
🐾 Carefully check the mouth and remove an object only if it is clearly visible and easy to reach.
🐾 Never blindly put your fingers into a cat’s throat.
🐾 If your cat cannot breathe, seek emergency veterinary care immediately.
🐾 If your cat becomes unresponsive and is not breathing normally, begin appropriate pet CPR while arranging emergency veterinary assistance.

❤️ Remember: Cats are delicate, and incorrect first aid can cause serious injuries. Contact a veterinarian immediately, even if the object appears to have been removed.

🍝 SEEKING SOMEONE TO SHARE A NOODLE AND AN ENTIRE LIFE WITH.

When we decided to recreate the spaghetti scene from Lady and the Tramp, there was no audition.

We needed romance.
We needed someone willing to work for snacks.
We needed a leading man whose immediate response to “Can we get another kiss?” was “I thought you’d never ask.”

We needed ROMERO. ❤️

This man arrived on set, understood the assignment, and delivered. No agent. No trailer. No outrageous demands. Just treats and the opportunity to aggressively pursue a career in being somebody’s boyfriend.

He was SO GOOD for his photo shoot. Meanwhile, the rest of us were standing around like, “How are you still single? WHO IS IN CHARGE OF CASTING YOUR FOREVER FAMILY?”

Because seriously. Why on earth is this boy still here?

He’s out here offering kisses and taking direction for snacks while people are downloading dating apps to meet a man who owns one pillow and calls dinner “fuel.”

Romero would NEVER disrespect pasta like that.

In our version of this movie, he’s already booked the table, ordered the carbs, and asked the waiter to take 47 pictures because you look beautiful and this is going on the Christmas card.

All he needs now is someone sitting on the other side of the plate. 🥹

We love making these ridiculous photos, but the wish behind this one is very real: we want Romero to find his person. Someone who meets him, gets to know him, and wonders how they ever went home without him.

Apply to meet Romero through EGAPL Heart of RI. Not looking to adopt? Share our leading man. His co-star could be on your friends list.

The role is forever family. The chemistry test involves meeting a very kissy dog. 🍝❤️🐾

🐶🚨 HEIMLICH MANEUVER FOR DOGS: What Every Pet Owner Should Know! 🐾

Choking in dogs is a life-threatening emergency that requires quick action. If your dog is choking and struggling to breathe, knowing basic pet first aid can make a critical difference. ❤️🐕

🐾 Remember these emergency tips:
✅ Check whether your dog can breathe, cough, or make sounds.
✅ If an object is clearly visible and easy to remove, carefully remove it without pushing it deeper.
✅ If the airway remains blocked, appropriate choking first aid may help dislodge the object.
✅ Seek immediate veterinary emergency care, even if the object comes out.

⚠️ Important safety note: The correct technique depends on your dog's size, position, and condition. Avoid blind finger sweeps, and never lift a conscious dog by its hind legs or apply forceful abdominal thrusts without knowing the proper technique. Get veterinary help immediately.

📌 Save this post and share it with fellow pet parents! You never know when this knowledge might save a life. 🐾❤️

💬 Question: Would you know what to do if your dog started choking?

It has been 67 years since she left Earth and even now, her story still feels heavy.
Laika wasn't just a dog in a rocket. She was trust, wrapped in fur - a gentle soul who never knew she was being sent to die for science.

Her real name was Kudrjavka, meaning "curly" in Russian. A stray found on Moscow's cold streets, chosen not for her strength, but for her calm. For her ability to survive what others couldn't. As if pain itself made her more "fit" for space.

On November 3, 1957, they placed her inside Sputnik 2 - a capsule with food, water, and padded walls... but no plan to bring her home.

Some say she lived for a few hours. Others say a few days. Either way, her last moments were spent alone, orbiting in silence - unaware of the applause she would never hear.

She circled Earth 2,570 times before her capsule burned up on re-entry, the following April.

Laika didn't choose to be a pioneer. She didn't ask to be a symbol of progress. She was simply a creature who trusted - and in doing so, became the first to bridge the distance between Earth and the stars.
Today, we remember her not with guilt, but with aratitude - for remindina humanitv that everv great journey begins with courage, even from the smallest of hearts.
