I saw this quilt by just a corner at the thrift store and just put her in the cart. Usually I look better before I scoop one up, but it was a quick visit and one of the kids was talking to me about something. I hoped it wouldn’t have a mystery stain that I made missed. When I got her home, I was thrilled that the pattern was all over the quilt, not just on the edges like I thought it was when I took a quick peek. This one is so much fun. I just love how it turned out. Score the pair in my Etsy shop before someone else snags it.

Most summers the zinnias come up in mass and super quickly. This summer, I have planted, replanted, replanted, and replanted. These blooms are my mom’s and she shared some with me so we finally have some growing. It has definitely been an unusual growing season.

Inspired by Zak ZAK FOSTER I created a quilt from one of my dad’s work shirts. Zak made some shorts into a quilt that could still functionally be worn. Initially this was the plan, but the back yoke on this shirt was so worn that I didn’t think it would be strong enough to hold up the front and keep the quilt intact. I changed plans and instead quilted it down to the background fabric in one piece. With the thicker than average batting I used, these stitches were hard won. I think that further underscored my plan to show the hard work this shirt has been through. Some places have more or less quilting in an effort to show the movement of the man who wore it. This is the first in a series, “Hard Work.”

I was studying my social media analytics. I know there is so much I don’t know and have to learn about that whole side of marketing. I usually watch others who look like they are doing it well and take notes.

Somehow, I got myself into an area that was rating the quality of my videos, photos, and text. Honestly, I probably can’t find where it was again, but it was an interesting nugget. I have worked hard to make my photos clearer and more compelling over the years. With the addition of videos, I thought I was playing the game as the algorithm wanted me to. Lo and behold, my text gets a low rating. I couldn’t help but laugh. It seems like in social media people are being fed the images and video well over whatever a creative has to say. Let me tell you, I could wax poetic.

Bless you if you are still reading this heavy text post. This is my experiment to see if it does make any difference in the game.

This lovely coat is ready to help you gear up for fall and a cozy pumpkin patch or football game.

I had a fun quilting lesson last week with a friend. She generously shared her organization system and the fun of making I Spy quilts as well as a start for my quilts. I hope to make one for both my nephews and both our kids. Each one will have some matching fabrics and some of their own, so they will always have some of each other with them.

I love how this one turned out! She’s just so cute!! Snag her in my Etsy store because I know she won’t last long. ...
