Meet the Spring Meadow bundle. 🌸🌿

I pulled this one together for everyone who's been chain piecing along with me this week — because once you've got the habit down, you need something pretty to sew with it.

Four fabrics, chosen to play nicely together: the garden print with the daisies, butterflies, and the tiniest bees and ladybugs (I can't get over them 🐝), a deep green pin dot, a soft cream, and a blush pink to pull it all together.

No guessing, no second-guessing at the fabric store — just cut, chain piece, press, repeat. ❤️

🧵 QUILT CONFIDENCE MONDAY: A Little Organization Goes a Long Way!

Ever sit down to piece a quilt block and realize you've spent more time figuring out which pieces go together than actually sewing them? 😂

One thing I've learned is that chain piecing works even better when I have my pieces organized BEFORE I start sewing.

I like to keep my fabric pieces grouped by step (and yes, sometimes that means pulling out my trusty paper plates!).

Then I can sit down, sew several pieces in a row, and keep things moving without constantly stopping to sort everything out.

Nothing fancy. Just a little preparation that makes the whole process easier.

And that's what Quilt Confidence is all about. ❤️

Sew a seam. Stop. Cut the thread. Start again. Repeat.

Sound familiar? 😂

So much of what we do in quilting involves repeating the same steps over and over. But sometimes, a small change in how we work can make a BIG difference!

That's where chain piecing comes in.

Instead of stopping to cut your thread after every seam, just keep sewing! It's a simple technique that saves time, reduces thread waste, and helps keep your piecing moving right along.

And once you get into a rhythm, it's pretty satisfying to watch those pieces come together! ❤️

I'm sharing more about chain piecing in this week's Quilt Confidence blog, including why it's one of those little habits worth learning.

My not-so-fancy organization system! 😂🧵

Labeled paper plates. That's it. That's the system.

Here's the chain piecing benefit nobody talks about: when you leave your units connected in the chain, they stay in order. Carry the whole chain to the ironing board, press, and snip apart only what the next step needs. No more mystery piles.

And when orientation matters? Label the piles. (Flying geese background, geese, star points, cornerstones — ask me how I know. 😅)

Confession: I used to cut my threads after every. single. seam. 😅🧵

Then I learned chain piecing — and my piecing sessions got so much calmer. You just keep feeding pairs through the machine, one after another, and they come out linked in a little thread chain. No stopping, no repositioning, no pile of thread tails to trim.

Sounds almost too simple, right? There are a couple of small details that make it actually work — like what to do with that very first pair, and the one thing to watch so you don't trade your smooth session for seam-ripping time.

I love watching a fabric pull go from “I think these work together…” to “Yep. That's it.” 😍

Now imagine a whole quilt full of these.

Sometimes the best part is seeing a pile of fabric start to turn into something. 🩷💜A little cutting…a little rearranging...

Just one block at a time… 🧵
Working my way through the giant quilt, and there’s something pretty satisfying about watching the quilting bring each block to life.
