For the next couple of hours we’re looking more like a yard sale than a store that sells highly scented small batch home fragrances, gems minerals and gemstone jewelry. At this point, as my son would say “it is what it is “. The things we have picked up for flea markets or have used for various things in the store has to go asap.

Last year at covered bridge we introduced our Baltic amber pendants and our Indonesian rough. This year I’m not sure we’ll have the pendants thanks to the cost of silver but I’m working on some cute amber bracelets

Amber is a rich golden-orange color associated with warmth, vitality, confidence, happiness, and the life-giving energy of the Sun. In color magick, amber draws its symbolism from both its radiant hue and the ancient lore surrounding natural amber resin.

Amber can be used when energy feels depleted or motivation has become difficult to maintain. Its golden warmth supports determination, clear thinking, creativity, and the confidence needed to bring plans into physical form. It is especially useful for work involving personal power, leadership, recognition, success, or renewed enthusiasm.

The amber ray encourages courage without recklessness. It can help strengthen resolve when beginning something unfamiliar, speaking with authority, making an important decision, or stepping into a more visible role. Amber also carries an optimistic quality that can lift the atmosphere of a room, altar, or working space.

Because amber rests between yellow and orange, it shares yellow’s associations with intelligence, communication, and mental clarity while carrying orange’s creativity, movement, confidence, and warmth. It may be used to clear mental stagnation, inspire new ideas, sharpen concentration, and restore interest in projects that have lost their momentum.

Natural amber is formed from ancient tree resin, giving it additional connections to the earth, forests, preservation, memory, and the passage of time. For this reason, amber may also be incorporated into nature magick, ancestral work, spirit communication, remembrance rituals, and spells meant to preserve something valuable.

Ancient Greeks, Romans, Etruscans, and other cultures wore amber as jewelry and used it in amulets. It was historically associated with protection, healing, fertility, childbirth, and safeguarding women and children. These traditions belong primarily to amber resin rather than the color alone, but they have influenced the way amber is understood in modern magickal practice.

The phrase "amber is the color of your energy" was popularized by the band 311 through their song “Amber.” While it is a song lyric rather than an ancient teaching, it suits the color well. Amber has become strongly associated with radiant personal energy, warmth, attraction, and the visible glow of a person who feels confident and fully present.

Amber candles may be burned during spells for confidence, prosperity, creativity, career advancement, protection, or renewed motivation. Amber cloth, ribbon, jewelry, or stones can also be placed on a Sunday altar to represent solar power and the warmth needed to nourish a goal.

As with all color correspondences, amber’s meaning can shift according to the tradition, intention, and materials being used. The color carries predominantly solar and fiery energy, while natural amber resin adds older associations with trees, preservation, fertility, protection, and the mysteries held within the earth.

A Heartfelt Thank You & An Important Announcement

We’ve held off making this announcement as long as we could because, quite honestly, this little store front has meant so much to us.

As most of you know, a little over two years ago we began looking for a space to lease so we could open Bark Alley. That search led us to a space in the town where Terri grew up—one large enough to give Black Feather Studios a brick-and-mortar home while we worked on launching the dog spa in the alley side of the same building.

Our original plan was for Black Feather’s storefront to be open for about three years while Bark Alley settled in and grew.

Well… we miscalculated—in the very best way. ❤️

Bark Alley has grown, and continues to grow more quickly than we ever expected. The dog spa is ready for a space of its own, and unfortunately, neither of us has figured out how to be in two places at once!

So, with a lot of thought and some very mixed emotions, we’ve decided not to renew our lease for our brick-and-mortar location in Pendleton.

This is definitely not goodbye to Black Feather Studios’ Raven’s Nest. We will continue our work as vendors and look forward to bringing our candles, crystals, creativity and botanicals to various markets and festivals. We’re excited about what’s ahead, even as we say goodbye to this chapter.

Most importantly, thank you. Thank you to every person who walked through our doors, made a purchase, commissioned a piece, shared our posts, brought a friend, stopped in to say hello, or simply supported our small business. Thank you for believing in us and allowing us to be part of this community.

We are incredibly grateful for every conversation, every friendship, every laugh, every hug, and every memory made inside these walls. This storefront may be closing, but the people we’ve met and the support you’ve given us will stay with us.

We’ll only be open a couple more days September 11th and 12th. That’s the same dates as Pendleton Heritage Fair. We hope you’ll stop in.
What’s next for Black Feather Studios Ravens Nest? As always you can find us at Noblesville Farmers Market, Atlanta’s New Earth Festival, Bridgeton’s Covered Bridge Festival and then…..keep a watch on our website and here for what comes next. As for Bark Alley, we’re in talks for two different properties. Say a prayer the one that’s right for us accepts our offer.

Thank you for being part of our story. We’re excited for the next chapter. 🖤
